Who's Who At Prettygate Baptist Church

Name......Peter Shirtcliffe

Name..........Graham Rushby

Primary Role...........Elder

Peter is the full-time Pastor of the church. He worked as a Graphic Designer at the BBC for 15 years before training for Christian ministry. He’s married to Catherine and they have three children at local schools. It’s his task to teach and equip the church family to grow in their relationship with God and each other, to reach out into the community with the good news of Jesus Christ and to live Christ-like lives wherever God has placed them. As the Elder at Prettygate Baptist Church, Graham is involved in many of our activities. He usually leads our services on one Sunday each month, but is also involved in additional work in the community such as leading assemblies in local primary schools and as a trustee for the CO1 town centre cafe project.

Name...........Justyn Calver

Primary Role........Secretary

Name............Leslie Clark

Primary Role.........Treasurer

Bank manager, Justyn, is the youngest of the church officers and single-handedly brings down the average age considerably! Within the church, Justyn is involved in the music group and assists with the video projection and PA during services. Leslie has recently taken over from Philip as Church Treasurer. Working in the IT department at The University of Essex, he has put his computer skills to good use in his role as treasurer, and regularly impresses us with graphs and pie charts when presenting the latest accounts!

Name............Philip Wade

Primary Role...........Deacon

Name.........Trevor Hazelton

Primary Role...........Deacon

Philip is our most 'senior' deacon, having been in the role for over 40 years! Most of these were as treasurer, a position recently taken over by Leslie Clark. A retired civil servant, Philip still manages to keep himself very busy and deals with all the church correspondence. Having recently celebrated a 'significant' birthday, Trevor enjoys nothing more than a round of golf followed by some hard labour on his allotment! As a deacon, he is involved in much of the practical running of the church including looking after the building and a lot of driving!
